Audi's tried and true 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine powers the Allroad, producing 220 horsepower and 258 foot pounds of torque from as low in the rev range as 1,500 rpm. A standard 8-speed automatic transmission with Tiptronic manual mode puts power to all four wheels via the excellent Audi quattro all-wheel-drive system. Audi claims the Allroad will hit 60 mph in just 6.4 seconds, with a top speed of 130 mph.
Underneath, the Allroad's suspension offers longer travel than other A4s. This makes for a ride height that is 1.4 inches higher overall, and a ground clearance of 7.1 inches. Stability control is standard and on the Allroad its off-road intelligence allows for more wheel slip on loose surfaces like gravel. Optional variable-ratio dynamic power steering is optional, which offers a smoother feel of the road. The amount of assist is customizable through the Allroad's Drive Select system, which also allows the driver to adjust shift points and throttle response.
The Allroad is offered in three trims -- Premium, Premium Plus and Prestige. Premium trim includes power windows and locks, cruise control, three-zone automatic climate control, a leather interior with 60/40 split-folding rear seats, eight-way adjustable power front seats, rear privacy glass, and more. Premium Plus adds heated front seats with driver side memory, a multifunction steering wheel, and Audi advanced key, which provides keyless entry, start and stop. Finally, Prestige features adaptive Xenon headlights, MMI navigation plus with voice control, a Bang & Olufsen sound system, Bluetooth streaming audio, rear sunshades, and a parking system with rear camera.
Options on the Allroad include different wheel designs, walnut and ash inlays, and the Bang & Olufsen sound system. And available packages include the Driver Assist Package, with adaptive cruise control, Audi drive select controls, and dynamic steering. The Sport Interior Package adds paddle shifters and front sport seats with four-way power lumbar support. The Technology Package (which is standard in the Prestige trim) features HD radio, Audi connect, parking assist with a rear camera, navigation, and more. Finally, the Audi MMI Navigation Package, available on Premium, is a 'lite' version of the Tech Package, with navigation, HD radio, and a CD/DVD player.
Standard safety features on the Audi A4 Allroad include 4-wheel anti-lock brakes with brake assist, stability and traction control and a bevy of airbags for front and rear passengers alike. Rear side airbags are optional.
